There are several popular Green Home programs. ENERGY STAR qualified homes focus on energy efficiency, occupant comfort and indoor air quality. The LEED Homes program contains the ENERGY STAR requirements and adds numerous environmental aspects. These include: location to amenities, site erosion prevention and landscaping, water usage with rain water capture, materials used with reduced scrap rates and recycled materials, as well as other items. The Florida Green Building Coalition program has many of the same initiatives as the LEED homes program, focusing on the Florida climate.
